Best distro for a Dell lap top

I've been given a Dell Inspiron 5160. What is the most compatible distro for the hardware. In particular I need the on board modem to work. At the moment I am using open suse on my desk top.

The modem is described as:
Type: v.92 56K MDC

Controller: Softmodem

Interface: internal AC97 bus.

Thankyou

Dell now sells some of its PCs/laptops with Ubuntu, so I think that would be a safe bet.
There is a driver for the modem for Dell laptops at
http://linux.dell.com/wiki/index.php...t_Modem_Driver
Or else install the Conexant modem driver from the Ubuntu package manager (restricted drivers).
