ATI Radeon X1300 on Slackware 10.2 - Having trouble getting it working

Ok. Because we use a vendor "controlled" linux distro for our workstations, we are a bit stuck for the moment using Slackware 10.2. They built their own installer from the ground up. I now have a need to enhance the gfx capabilities of these Dell Optiplex workstations. They were using on board video and now I've got an ATI Radeon X1300 DMS PCI gfx card installed. I was able to install the ATI proprietary drivers successfully and was able to use aticonfig to get a "working" xorg.conf file. By "working" I mean that the xserver starts up but the display looks like is was sliced millions of times on the horizontal axis by Ginsu knives and the pieces offset horizontally.

Here is the lspci dump

Code:

This is _mostly_ solved. Isn't that how it always works? You work and work and decide to take a break and seek out assistance and you come back, try something else and viola! It works.
