Well, a bit more information could be useful...

What did you do before UT2004 stopped working?? Updated version? Installed new kernel, recompiled one? Changed X version??

any help ? [/B]
I had the same fbconfig problem... The problem is that a library was pointing to the mesa version, and not the ATI driver version.
If you do an ldd on fgl_glxgears, you'll see it loads:
>ldd /usr/X11R6/bin/fgl_glxgears
libGL.so.1 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1 (0x40028000)
But this library is incorectly pointing to the mesa (software) version
>ls -l /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 Nov 27 18:48 /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1 -> libGL.so.1.2.from_xlibmesa

It should be pointing to ATI's version

To fix it, as root, change the link to point to ATI's driver, like so:
su
cd /usr/X11R6/lib
rm libGL.so.1
ln -s libGL.so libGL.so.1

Hope that helps
