The specs were just released by ATI, realistically how long do you think it will take to create an OpenSource driver that works well and is stable ?
If you want Good support and functionality NOW, go for nVidia.
If you are willing to wait for good drivers (provided they ever appear and work right) you could choose ATI.
I refuse to 'count the chickens before the eggs have hatched'.
Once ATI Linux drivers are available that work as well as the nVidia drivers, my position may change. till then I won't be holding my breath
I too vote for nVidia, for not only the X & Linux functionality and ease of use NOW, but just because I prefer nVidia too -- a preference which is reinforced by just how well it works with Linux, and its relative ease of configuration compared to similar ATI config's I come across around here.
Cute. ATI neglects Linux users for years, softens up only when OEMs like DELL state their interest in Linux and now suddenly everyone is considering ATI again??? One thing is clear: Nvidia support is more or less unconditional, ATI is a different story.
