I'm a noob. I'm frustrated. I don't know how to print the output of lspci. I just want help. Please put an end to this driver install. I've tried using the Synaptic Packet Manager and EasyUbuntu. Neither worked. You want more info? Gimme about a year to figure out how to get it.
Here's what I DO know:
Gateway Solo 9500 850MHz. ATI Mobility Rage M4. Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04. Dual-booting through GRUB with Win2kPro (which had no problem installing the drivers).
Distribution: RHEL/CentOS/SL 5 i386 and x86_64 pata for IDE in use

One can do something like;
(create an output file): /sbin/lspci -v > output.txt
(review the file): less output.txt
(print the file to a defined printer): lpr output.txt
Sorry, those aren't working either. I get permission denied, sorry. When I type 'su' I type my password and it tells me 'authentication failure.' I know my password, I don't know why it's not taking it. I'm just supposed to type 'su,' then wait, then type the invisible password right? This is nuts. Do I need a Comp Sci degree to run Ubuntu?
I' sorry. I'm just going to stick with Windows boxes. I've been running them and profiting off of their failings for years, so why switch. Thanks for your time anyway.
Great job security. However, this is my xth time giving up on Linux. I've given up on just about every popular distro out there thinking each one was going to be easy. My O'Reilly pocket guides only get me so far. I wish there was a class I could take geared toward basic Linux operation.
You guys in the forums are awesome, but essentially, getting help here is like applying a band-aid. I want to learn everything. Do you have any suggestions as far as books or classes that really start from the basics? I'm a self-taught guy, but I wouldn't mind some help here.
