ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 -- CentOS 5 -- 3D

Hello everyone.

I have an Intel-based (i686) laptop running CentOS 5 with an ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 graphics card. I was wondering if someone could help me get the driver(s) set up and wroking properly so I can have 3D -- I have never had much luck with 3D before (except on Ubuntu ... but that was automatic, so I don't know how it worked).

On CentOS you will need to download and install the driver directly from ATI/AMD:

I definitely recommend reading the "Installer Instructions" listed on this page before you get started.

I dabbled with this driver release just a few weeks ago on a Latitude D810. It was a pain to get working, though, in comparison to a laptop with an nVidia GPU.
