i have the ati 9600xt and it works fine and without problems for me. is the module loaded and is the version of the kernel module the same as the version for the driver?
Hmm.............havnt heard of the ATI card causing installation to crash. did you try the option to check CD media before installation ? your cd's/dvd may be messed up or something.
hey Grimse, to answer ur question, yes, YUM is detecting the proper version of my Kernel. i did "uname -r" to confirm that.ive installed the source of my kernel and the proprietry drivers seemed to install properly ( be4 they simply jumped from start to finish but now they go smoothly and say stuff abt my kernel and what it is doing ) but when i restart my comp ( after fglrxconfig) its mesa back to haunt me.
Just To Finish this thread, i solved the problem. I threw out that piece of CR*P ATI 9600 and put in a NVidia 6600GT !! Linux is sooooo much beter now.
