U can opt for any brand/make available in your region. But make sure that the linux based driver/needed software is bundled with the modem. It will prevent lot of trouble coming to you in lack of appropriate drivers etc.

I purchased a modem but found no driver for linux within. And i hv to search a lot for it on my slow dialup.

So be sure that u have all the tools available to make it run.

Regards

Rlogin,

It might help us if you filled in a few details about yourself eg Location (may be important here!) and Distribution (always helps with general questions).

That said, the only really important thing to make sure you get right is that you should be able to connect the ADSL modem to your computer with an ethernet cable. Then it'll be a breeze to set up: No "drivers" required for linux. Avoid USB modems at all cost!

I have installed Zoom ADSL modems on a variety of linux computers - they are very easy to set up through a web-based interface, and the Zoom X5 also has a firewall, switch & router all built-in.

You could check the HCL (Hardware compatability List) on this board for ADSL modems that are available in your area.
