adding hard drive

i have a server with 5 internal hard drives, scsi, raid. i am running redhat 8.0. i am also running samba on the box.

i want to purchase an external, scsi, raid array hard drive.

can i add this to the machine after the operating system is installed and if so how do i go about mounting it or setting it up so it can be used?

i am fairly new at linux so i need a little bit of help. thank you.

Question what are doing with this system? Is it a server for some company you work for? Or is it just some badass machine you got at your house.

no it is a server for a company i work for. we are running samba but the hard drive is starting to fill up. so i want to add an external one to lessen the burden on the machine.

First of all I would not recommend 8.0 for a server at a place of buisiness, I would recommend 7.3 it is more tested and tried and true. There is more support in Docs, and drivers for 7.3 Second yes you should be able to add this hardware after the OS installed. I am pretty sure there is a Howto for this at tldp.org But I am sure it can be done. If the HOWTO is no help then let me know.
