A tape drive and a Solaris box

I've been trying to access a SCSI tape drive from multiple operating systems. We sort of gave up on using the OS X box and now I'm using a Solaris box. Is there any way that I can see a list of the SCSI devices attached to the computer? Before I can even attempt to access it, I need to figure out which device it is in /dev and it's not named any of the default ones that I've seen referenced in the manuals I'm using.

Also, if anybody could point me in the direction of a decent tape-accessing tutorial, I'd appreciate it. I have 3 tar files on this tape that I need to retreive.

Thanks for the help.

SCSI Tape drives are located in /dev/rmt/ (at least under Solaris).
Mine (a Sun 4-DDS) is /dev/rmt/0hbn.
You should also read the man page of the commands "mt" and "tar".

Hmm, that directory is empty. Maybe the kernel doesn't have it enabled? I saw a similar problem in another directory. Thanks for the help.

Ok... so you also have to read the man page for "devfsadm" (Solaris 8 and 9) or "tapes" (for Solaris < 8).
