Unhappy [SOLVED]Plextor m6e not showing up in fdisk

I'm trying to install crux 3.2 on my plextor m6e (pcie ssd) and for whatever reason fdisk -l doesn't show it.

Lspci shows the device and lspci -nnk shows that it's in fact using the ahci driver.

I can't find it in /dev/ as I'd assume it should be sda, but I'm not sure. This ssd uses a Marvell controller that I believe is supported by the 4.1 kernel the crux installer runs with. I'm not sure whatelse to troubleshoot. Any ideas?

Udev may be relevant

If its not showing up in /dev then perhaps udev does not have an appropriate rule for it. If lspci shows the device then obviously the kernel knows about it. Perhaps you need an appropriate rule from somewhere to go in /etc/udev/rules.d, or wherever your udev expects to find its configuration information on your system. You may be able to get more information about it using udevadm and looking in sysfs. If you can get it to show up in /dev then fdisk ought to work.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply!

Turns out, my bios must have been configured wrong. On a whim, I reset it to default settings and it picked the card right up.

Firmware

Ah - bios! I should have thought of that. Actually I am on UEFI now. I had some terrible printer problems until telling UEFI to downgrade the usb from 3.0 all round to native controller types, then the printer started working right. In the end I took the printer off to an old machine so that I could keep usb 3.0 on the work station. Its surprising sometimes how tricky motherboard firmware can be.

Anyway - congratulations on finding the solution!
