Including the test page??

Another thing to try:

In the CUPS setup, set your printer to be the default. Then, open a terminal and find a text file (create one if necessary). Then enter "lp filename" and tell us what happens.

Previously my printer was set to default and now i again checked it ...

output for lp filename is as following...

[xxx@Wazirkutz ~]$ lp text
request id is LBP2900-26 (1 file(s))
[xxx@Wazirkutz ~]$ lp text
request id is LBP2900-27 (1 file(s))
[xxx@Wazirkutz ~]$ lp text
request id is LBP2900-28 (1 file(s))

Hello,

I gave up and now I don't use my Canon LBP2900 with Fedora. I still wander around web to get some clue but no luck... I have gone through many installation manuals but useless... I downloaded drivers from canon website and installed them as rpms. My system detects and tells me my printer is ready to print ... but on sending a job.. it becomes immortal..

Any suggestions are appreciated...

Cheers!!

I was pretty optimistic about Fedora 10...but It turned out the same as F9..

My LBP 2900 printer remains unconfigured till now..

I don't have any 64 bit rpm for drivers ... or any pdf config file..

This remains unsolved..

Any suggestions are welcomed

Cheers!!

HI,

After Installing my Fedora 9 i switched my printer on, os searched for some drivers and couldn't find theM in driver database for cups.. It asked me to specify... drivers were not listed there.. i searched and downloaded them from canon website and installed through yum including all dependencies... I restarted my pc.. on loggingon back it again searched for drivers and found all with it self... a popup message told me that my canon lbp2900 printer is ready .... i then, through
lpstat -t
checked my printer status..

it said its configured and accepting jobs since xyz date and time..

i opened openoffice write .. tried to print something.. it sent that as a job 1 and then till now noting happens .. it always takes jobs and a messgae of 'PROCESSING' comes next to the very first job in Q. but nothing happenes...

anyone could help me out ...

thanks in advance..

Hello,

See this link perhaps will work for you, the installation is the same for ubuntu as for fedora just for fedora you have to use the .rpm drivers

http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic...2900-in-ubuntu

Please report if worked for you

as for as permissions to a.ppd file are concerned.. that in 755 mode..
and I own that file..

[xxxx@Wazirkutz ~]$ ls -lart
rwxr-xr-x 1 xxxxx xxxxx 12650 2007-11-30 06:50 CNCUPSLBP2900CAPTK.ppd

now i don't know what else should be checked... I've been through many long processes and command line configuration as specified on other linux help communities regarding this printer..finally i feel itś the place where i should have been a bit before...

I have started Linux since August 2008 and am enjoying allot despite the fact I'm facing probs... but challenges are part of life...:-)..

Lets see if someone has to say something about this problem..

thanks for your help

Cheers!!
