YDL on OSX

Hiya, Today I discovered YDL 3.0.1, I have never used linux before, but am very interested in doing so. Hardware: 1.33 Ghz PowerPC G4 17inch Powerbook, running Mac OS X v.10.3.3. (one partiton, 80gb) can I install YDL without re-partioning? I have a feeling the answer is no, but not really sure... What would the ideal partiton set-up be? Split my drive in two? this is the only bit im a little unsure on, I really don't want to destroy any data at this moment in time (i'll back up and repartition, when I have a clearer idea of whats going on), I am aware of something called yaboot, which comes into this somewhere (currently reading up on this) and mol (VERY interesting). Does linux need two partitions? Ive read a little about a swap partiton and EXT3??

Sorry for the odd questions, a few hours ago I hadn't even heard of YDL and didnt know that I could natively run Linux on my Tibook. Steep learning curve. Lots of reading to do.

Thanks in advance
