wine and directx
im trying to get a game going using wine, the game´s installer requires directx to run. is there away around installing directx using wine, which appearently doesnt work.
fyi the game is final fantasy xi, and there are no install notes on winehq, beside requires directx 8.1 or higher
It should install if WINE does not crash. Try to find an option to pass to run Final Fanasty XI so it uses OpenGL instead of DirectX. If it does not work, you can use Cedega or get the console version.

direct x doesnt install through the download method, though there was some odd disc error with the japanese version of Final Fantasy XI, im going to try to the us version when i get it back from my cousin. i think the disc has an installer for direct x that doesnt require down loading.
also i was thinkin tweaking it for OpenGL, but that is once i finally learn what language the windows installers are coded in.
You can not install DirectX in WINE because it comes with it and it will not install. If you know an option to pass to the installer so that it ignores checking for the version DirectX.
