On the purely proprietary side (varies, where slaves (both workers and users) never give\get 100%) "trade secrets." At lest you can rip most if not all the proprietary out of your *buntu and not be deemed a cracker.
I do not see how an idiot insulting the free software movement is related to people "hating" Ubuntu, unless the person is an Ubuntu developer. Without being able to see YouTube, I do not know the details.
It works in chrome because googles toys in googles playground. I've had quite a few freshly uploaded videos not work in iceweasel, but work in chrome. And eventually will play fine in iceweasel (firefox). Probably something to do with video processing and available formats. It helps if you visit the youtube.com/html5 page and opt to use html5 over flash (aka override defaults).

If you take a look at the HTML5 compatibility page it shows you what browsers work well with HTMP5 and how well they work with it. Chrome/Chromium, Opera, Firefox/Iceweasel (in that order) are the top 3. Safari is just ahead of IE which isn't really all that good anyway. A lot of time and effort has been spent on getting Chrome/Chromium up to speed and each release brings more HTML5 abilities. the same goes for Firefox/Iceweasel but the increase in ability isn't as rapid as Chrome/Chromium.
I think everyone hates ubuntu because UNITY or Ubiquity or whatever the call it...Millions of people went ballistic over Metro on Windows 8.Now its happening with Debian and Ubuntu.

Do you have a source or link for this information? Or just FUD from you??
That is obviously not true, since so many people use it. There is a big difference between many or most people, and everyone. And since most people have never heard of Ubuntu, it is impossible for everyone to hate it. A more accurate statement, which has already been made at the beginning of the thread, is that many people in the Linux community hate or dislike Ubuntu/Canonical.
You've been here for less than 2 months and excreted 139, and counting, pieces of troll crap. Give it a rest.
Hahaha! I laughed so hard at this. That is my favorite post. At least he didn't ask what the "best distro" was or "why is KDE the best" or even "how do I install Linux".
And why don't I use Ubuntu? I don't like spyware and having my information collected. I'm not sure why so many people don't care about privacy. You don't have to do anything wrong to have your information abused or put at risk.
Plus, for desktop, I prefer Linux Mint and think Cinnamon is pretty slick. At work, I prefer RedHat or CentOS. I've been wanting to try out SuSE.

Ignorance and complacency.
Ignorance: It is easy for people to ignore things they do not understand. Since most people do not know how easy it is to steal or use someone else's information, they do not realise when their information, and even their life (in the broad context) is at risk.
Complacency: It is common for people to not care about dangers, until they are affected. How many people living in areas susceptible to natural disasters do not take precautions, until their homes are damaged or destroyed?
Probably because Ubuntu single handedly screwed over the entire linux community by not embracing Wayland.
Ubuntu before wayland had a huge majority of the market and could have made huge contributions in resources to Wayland that would have resulted in signifigant advances for linux. It would have had only 1 DWM for NV and AMD to support...Cannonical screwed everything up by making Mir.
It was such a stupid move the only reason I can see for it is $$$ from MS to F over the linux community.
