OK I call B@ll$h!t on this! "Jessie about in 1980 years". Perhaps you were being "metaphorical"? "Jessie" was Debian 8, I started Debian and Linux on Verizon 7.0 Wheezy. I remember Jessie for breaking my unorthodox KDE desktop. That was DEFINITELY AFTER 1980.
Let me get you up to speed. I was BORN in 1979. I started KINDERGARTEN in 1985. Owned my first computer around 1992. It was an Apple IIC. I GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL in 1997. I had ZERO IDEA what Linux or UNIX was then. For the NEXT DECADE AND A HALF (15 years) I would still not know. So yeah. I HAVE TO call you out. Totally, lavishly adorned, utter and COMPLETE non sterile male bovine droppings!
If you have something you want help on, speak out. But if this drivel is ALL you can put forth, keep your peace ☮️.
Edit: I typed this ALL on cellphone keyboard that measures 2.5" x 2.5". THIS absolutely WAS NOT some randomly typed lightly thought out response. The PURPOSE of adding that is to grow your wisdom and discernment. I don't want you to "think" "God what a JERK!". Think first, type next, reread what you have written before walking away.

Reason: adding detail.
What you quoted was probably a very young person (young as in young adult) that has already spent a decade frying their braincells with social media.
They probably think we're idiots for being so nitpicky about it, because every person in their age group would understand that "about in the 80s" was a mild exaggeration simply expressing "long ago". Or so they think. Because in reality this is childishness, the same way a certain type of school kid calls everyone who's younger a baby, and every one who's older a granny/grandad.
They are still that particular type of schoolkids, years, maybe a decade later.
So this also allows us to spot the age of that poster: they were so young in 2012 that it feels like ancient history to them now.
Lack of perspective, is what that is.
Thankfully, not all young adults are like that (although this type certainly thinks they are).

I DEFINITELY apologize for ANYTHING that may have come across as a RANT. That wasn't my intention. I wanted to get a person to stop and THINK before disparaging another.

lol, I thought you might react like that.
Nevermind, I guess it's my rant now.
No way! Slackware was released around 1991-92 after SLS
Specifically, Jul. 17 1993
Code:
Sat Jul 17 17:55:10 UTC 2021
Happy 28th birthday, Slackware! :-)
a/aaa_base-15.0-x86_64-1.txz: Upgraded.
Bump version numbers in /etc/os-release and /etc/slackware-version.
Not quite ready to freeze things for a release candidate, but getting there.
Initial email to root still needs a refresh.
a/kernel-firmware-20210716_b7c134f-noarch-1.txz: Upgraded.
x/ibus-m17n-1.4.6-x86_64-1.txz: Upgraded.
x/ibus-table-1.13.3-x86_64-1.txz: Upgraded.
It was 2002’ish and I was bored with Windows XP. I downloaded Fedora Core 2 and installed it and the more I tinkered with it the more I thought it was amazing. I have loved Linux of all flavors ever sense.
Slackware.. can't remember which version.. was in about '96 I think. I Was a Windows95 user and bumped into someone on IRC who told me all about this thing called "Linux." I was instantly hooked.
