What you were describing here is not related (restricted) to LQ, this is quite common all around the world.
People always want more with less effort.

Plasma stability in VirtualBox. It loses all the desktop/default panel customisations, not that I do many ...
Every update I think it'll fix itself. Maybe this time:
KDE Plasma 5.8.7
KDE Frameworks 5.36.0
Qt 5.6.1
Kernel 4.4.0-93-generic
OS 64-bit

Two screens?

These aren't technical issues.

2)Hardware compatibility
Vendors make drives and such for hardware, for Windows. MS doesn't have to do as much as Linux does to get hardware working. This is not a Linux issue. This is a vendor issue. Considering that and closed source in general, Linux does a great job imo.

3)Linus Torvalds is mortal
Well Peter Parker was bitten by a spider. He is now a superhero, (aka Spiderman.) Linus Torvalds was bitten by a penguin... Are you sure he is mortal?

Smile Good Technical Year

I think I'm newer at Linux than most on this forum. I've been single booting Linux just over two years. I've had a good year with my system. I credit the hardware which was made to support Linux, by Zareason. My computer is amd but the video card is nVidia. Printer hp. I'm using Mint and my drivers seem fine. Also, I have no fear updating and installing kernels. No more buying computers built for Microsoft Windows. From now on, only a manufacturer who builds computers for Linux. For me, Zareason.

Given that it doesn't work out of the box and that there are an number of competing projects to deal with it: gamepad support in WINE.

I don’t know if experts have already found a solution to this without suggesting tiling window manager. In desktop Linux (with GUI) the windows do not remember their old positions when you open them and pop out in random places , with the exception of Geany (one of the reasons I like that one). It's annoying and inefficient when you have to reposition windows every time. I've tried devilspie2 which can only seem control Thunar in my experience. The rc.xml in Openbox seems to be ignored by a lot of apps. With xfce4-terminal, though, I've succeeded in adding position to the part in the config file where it says geometry. So I visited some sites where apps that I like are developed and did a little searching and looked if there was a feature request section. It would be nice if apps had a geometry option that you could put in the keyboard shortcuts or in the menu, at least for now.

Besides the fact that nothing Microsoft does is a technical issue for Linux the incompatibility with Microsoft products is, if anything, much less of a problem than ever. With office available online in a browser and "the man in the street" tending to use an Android device rather than a desktop MS software is mainly a business choice issue nowadays not the huge problem it used to be.
I have no idea which Dell software you are referring to?
No idea why Wayland would be a technical issue either? How is a new software development an issue?
