Unmounting busy device

I have mounted another server to my /home/web catalog and copyed the files I want. When I then do umount /home/web from / I get the message that the device is busy.
Also when I go to the directory /home/web and do a ls the shell freezes.
Can anyone please help

to umount a device you should not be located in the mount point!
leave this directory in all shells, explorers, ... then unmount it.
a freezing shell is a bit strange!?
you have mounted another linux-serverīs exported dir via NFS to your linux-box?

I am not located in the mount point either. I have tried unmounting from different directories but nothing works. Not even from /
I have molunted a directory from on of my linux servers to another one of my linux servers via NFS.
The shell freezes and I cant stopp it . Have to close the shell to interupt it.
Any idea ?
Is some files still being acessed ?

try 'lsof | grep /home/web' to find the answer to the last question.

You can cd into and out of that directory and run general commands outside it but running 'umount' or even 'lsof' causes your shell to freeze? Bizarre. I don't know what's wrong but it can't be good. This is as root and as normal user?

I really don't know.

Other than switching directories, switching users, or switching shells (does zsh or whatever freeze, too?) I can't think of anything without knowing exactly what's wrong.

Can you even do 'ps'? You said you were copying files - maybe one of 'em is huge and still going. Still doesn't make sense, though - no reason for a shell to conk out.

I can not run cd in and out of this direcotyr. If I try then it freezes. I mount the disk when I go from work and I have a backup routine that copies files from /home/web and when I come in the morning later I have these problems. But the files get copied and everything
