trying to kill a process on Red Hat server
Hi all,
I'm new to the forum. This is my first post.
I did a search on processes that couldn't be killed with a -9 signal. Found one item.
I support an SRM (Storage Resource Management) reporting application and we have a daemon called hostAgent that collects infrastructural data from a server where its deployed. We straced our agent for another issue and decided to kill the trace and the instance of the agent. Killed the strace fine, but the agent won't be killed.
Here's how it looks
# ps -efl |grep hostA
1 D root 16818 1 0 75 0 - 45509 do_exi Sep28 ? 00:02:16 /opt/storability/bin/hostAgent -w /opt/storability/bin -msgdir /opt/storability/data -ini /opt/storability/etc/storability.ini
It looks like it has attached itself to init process as the new parent. Strace originally started it and was the parent
Any tricks on killing a stubborn process?
