man ln for more options but it would usually be something like this(could be different depending on your actual setup):

ln -s /dev/hdd /dev/dvd

Details? Error messages? I can't assume what the problem is, as I lack having ESP.

heres the error: MPlayer interrupted by signal 6 in module: open_stream
- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your gcc
version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read DOCS/bugreports.html
and follow the instructions there. We can't and won't help unless you provide
this information when reporting a possible bug.

sorry about not giving the info i should know to

And this is when your doing what? Playing a DVD? What command or how are you playing, from the command line, GUI interface? I need more details, your question is still vague and could be anything at this point.

Try running from the command and see what output you recieve:

mplayer [filename or device]

man mplayer for more options.
