Question suse 9 weird install problem

firstly: i couldn't decide whether this should go in Software \ Hardware, so if a mod wants to move this topic , go ahead.

secondly: here are my computer specs:

IBM flat screen LCD - 1024x768 native res.
Radeon 9800 Pro All in wonder
MSI 865PE-Neo2 FIS-2R MOBO
( rest dosent really matter, but you can ask me if its needed )

thirdly: here is my problem. I recently got suse 9, and when i first tried boting off the CDs, it seems the screen was shifted down alsmost 2 inches, and the bottom was completley cropped off, as in there are no bottom buttons for me, and on the top, i just see 2 inches of black space. I tried diffrent resolutions, but to no avail. I am thinking maybe there is some command\paramater i can pass to the install when i very first start it, but i am not quite sure what command(s) there are to pass. Can anyone help me out here ?

I am not familiar with SuSE, but I suggest using a text install rather than a GUI install as you are going to need a driver for that video card

# Configuring X
Linux Hardware Compatibility HOWTO - video cards
The Linux XFree86 HOWTO
Configuring XFree86 for a Non-Specific Linux Distribution

Common X configuring tools:
You may have one or more of these tools:
XF86Setup
XFree86 -configure
Xconfigurator
xf86cfg
xf86config
xconf
ATI Linux drivers

There is a possibility that your screen is not recognized.

Use Yast >>> Hardware >>> Graphic card and Monitor and see if your card and monitor are recognized.

Maybe you need the specs from your monitor to change some values, or you don't have the right drivers. Normally Suse should have a display like a rock. I installed it on different systems with different displays and different versions.

Sometimes it does not recognize the display, so you have to change the value's. For nvidia cards, you need Nvidia drivers. I did not use ATI cards but there should be drivers too if Suse doesn't have them buil in.
