supermount and now what?


i have downloaded this file promisses to mount and unmount devices automatically such as cdtrom and floppy drive and now what? what can i do to this file to get it work. it did say something about recompiling the kernerl and say Y to supermount, so where to put this file in kernel source for it to see this file and ask me Yes or no to include this in kernel.

you must first unzip the file and patch the kernel source.

gunzip filename

cd /path/to/kernel-source

patch -p1 < /path/to/patch/filename


There should be instructions where you got the file

ok done that already and compiled my kernel and boot using the new kernel with supermount support but after reading the instruction i still dont know how to mount to a folder /mnt/supermount?

what is the mount command for this supermount patch?

read the supermount documentation. It explains that thouroughly.

I'm not using supermount or I would tell you for sure, but I think the main thing you need to do now is setup your /etc/fstab file for the mounts that will be using supermount.

i notice one thing when check
/etc/filesystem there no supermount entry
but i go to /usr/src/linux-2.4.22-supermount source and then type
make xconfig and under file system i did say yes to supermount
why could this be happening?

previously i say m=modules to supermount and then compile and that kerenl got entry on supermount in /etc/filesystem.

why is it like that?
