Remove the following:

Ok, got those out, less errors on the startup now.

Still getting that "mech=" blank entry, scratching my head on that one too.

Since I'm out of ideas, I suggest you to follow this tutorial written to use gmail as a smarthost on port 587.
To create the ssl certificates read #3 here
