RedHat (or CentOS) desktop / Centrify Authentication... NetApp CIFS homedir???

I hope someone can help me out.

The setup we're using is a RedHat (moving to CentOS) virtual desktop, the user being authenticated
to ActiveDirectory using Centrify, and the current home directory coming from a NetApp NFS share.
The users' primary desktop is a Windows 7 desktop with their home directory coming from a NetApp CIFS
share. So we are maintaining two separate home directory infrastructures.

What I'd like to move to is a situation where the user's home directory is automounted from the CIFS
NetApp share so we don't have to maintain two separate disk shares for user homedirs.

I'm guessing I need to set up Samba on the desktop to somehow connect to AD to authenticate the home
directory. I have access to Samba 4.x and Samba 3.x.

Is this possible? If so, how? I've never had to work with Samba before (except in class), so this
is all new to me.

Thanks.

How are you implementing the NFS home dirs?

Doing a quick google search says that you can use autofs with samba...

Standard automount. This is working with no problems.

Sure, yes, that wouldn't be a problem except for having to put a username and password in
cleartext in a file. What I want to be able to do is have authentication work using the
user's current login/password automatically as they log in. We are using Centrify for
authentication against our ActiveDirectory infrastructure.

I found this on the Certify Site.

http://community.centrify.com/t5/Dir...n-AD/td-p/1044

I also found some "work arounds" (it may not be what you want; but you may have to acquiesce to one of these): http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/WindowsShares

You may want to also look into see if you can mount the share via the kerberos ticket you get from the AD server.

Since you're using Certify; you may want to open a case with them?
