Unhappy Problem With LINUX Woking

Hello,
I am using Linux Fedora Core 1, and I am a pretty new in it (some parts of it).
Recently I began to have a problem with its working. Everything works fine, but in a moment LINUX may stop and not respond to anything from the keyboard, the mouse may move but not change opened windows. The windows are not refreshed if I success to move them with the mouse. After restart everything works fine again. I have tried to use f-prot to find viruses, but no viruses were detected.
That problem appears on my computer few times a day and really disturbs me working.
Please help me figuring out what can it be and how can I fix it.
Thanks in Advance,
Leonid

What Do You mean by overheating?
How can I check it and fix if possible, before I decide to start Linux from the beginning?

Um, when your processor gets hot, it can produce lockups as you have described. Some processors won't lockup completely but will begin lagging until finally locking completely.

This is called overheating. It can be caused from a variety of things, dust on the fan, an old fan going out, overclocking, not enough cooling, not enough space for cooling...

Cool
