Problem booting my new kernel in an embedded system

Hi all.

I want to change my kernel version to 2.4.17. In my PC (PIII 800 MHz) this change has been sucessfull and works fine.

But I want to run this image (2.4.17) in my embedded system, and here comes the problem. The main features of my system are quite similar to the PC: AMD586, 24 Mb RAM, DOC..... so, the same kernel that runs fine on my PC should at least 'start' when booting on the embedded system. But just when the kernel is decompessed instead of starting, the embedded system halts and restarts (both, when I boot from a floppy and DOC, running lilo).

Any ideas?

The compiler I use is GCC-2.95.

Well there are difference between the AMD and a PIII. Try compiling it for the right processor or just for the i386. Otherwise look for other things which you might have been enabled which could cause it to stop.
