please help me enable my new Samsung phone to accept file transfers in Thunar

My last several phones were LG, and they easily accepted file transfers over Thunar in my distro, MX. My new phone, a Samsung Galaxy A53, won't. It makes me remember that I'had this problem with the last Samsung I owned. It wouldn't take any files through Thunar, period. It simply won't mount. I don't think I ever solved it any way other than just loading the files onto a memory card and using the card as the go-between. Do I just have to change some setting on the phone?

Do I have to use some MTP client?

I am on my antiX box right now. In my Icewm menu. I have Android Device usb connect.

It mounts my Samsung S10 OK. MX should have something similar I would think.

https://mxlinux.org/manuals/

"MX Users Manual. This full manual is aimed for the beginning and intermediate user of MX Linux. Installed with the OS, press Alt-F1 to launch it."

As far as mtp goes. Just enable it on your samsung phone. Nothing needed in MX.

On my phone MTP selection in android menu for usb connection type will no longer connect to thunar, but PTP works. Thunar think my phone is camera and I can move whaterver I want in android DCIM folder to or from computer with thunar. Android phone's file manager can relocate in android file system, so works. Not as good MTP, but ok.

Okay, I feel pretty foolish. I think I've been through this solution with a Samsung phone and simply forgot: the Samsung will ask you clearly whether you want to allow files from the machine in question. You just have to say yes, always allow.
