ntldr is missing

For the last year or so, I have dual booted W2k and Redhat on my system. Lately, I have had Win2k on my first hard drive, and redhat 8.0 on mysecond with grub on the mbr of the first. This has always worked like a charm.
However, last week, my motherboard died, so I bought a new motherboard and cpu. The rest of my system remained the same. However, now when I try to boot w2k I get the infamous error "ntldr is missing"
I've tried the recovery console on the w2k disk. I've tried fixboot and fixmbr. I've tried the whole repair option, but nothing works, and I'm beginning to wonder if even a reinstall would do any better. Is there anything else I could try before reformatting. I do not want to use NTFS.

Thanks in advance...

to add to what xzh2001 said: Find a friend/colleague/random computer with win2k.

Copy ntldr, boot.ini and ntdetect.com to a floppy. Stick the floppy into your PC and you will boot into win2k. Then just make sure that those three files are on your C:

Next start->control panel->administrative tools

I can't remember the name of the tool but there is an option for messing about with hard drives. Make sure that your C: partition is both active and bootable. Now take the floppy out and reboot and hopefully all will be good
