lost files still there...

Hi people, I just had to install a new harddrive and the likes, and when i put the case back onmy machine (obviously, it was still on!) I knocked the ide cable, and got a billion errors. After having to do the manual fsck jobby linux does boot, but it says it can't find a number of files, eg /etc/init.d/smb which DO still exist, I can cat the and stuff, but i can not run them, as i simply get File not found errors! I thought that maybe 'touch'ing them might do the trick but it's not, neither did copying them over themselves and such like. Any ideas?

thanks
Chris

Ahh.. sory for wasting peoples time reading this!

I found that somehow the link from /bin/sh to /bin/bash had somehow changed to point to /bin/BaSh, which obviously doesn't exist, so shell scripts would run...

Anyone able to explain why that happened?
