Im running Mandriva 2005 LE on a Compaq Presario 711EA laptop
950Mhz Duron Mobile
256Mb RAM (32mb used for graphics so 224 usable)
Netgear WG511 Wireless G PCMCIA Card

I have had this distro for a while now but have only recently tried setting it up with my file server. Whenever I try to view files on the server, Konquerer take ages to display the files (server unning windows server 2003) after typing in smb://Administrator@FILESERVER in konquerer it prompts me for my server password, I then enter it and after that it takes about 2 minutes for my files on the server to show up, though they all come up at the same time when they do. When I was running windows xp on this laptop, the network was fast to display the files. Can anyone please tell me why it would be so slow and is there any way to make it faster. Also when I try to use Konquerer for web browsing it is really slow (shouldnt be since I have 2mb broadband)

Also I would like to set up my printer (Lexmark Z43) that ar also set up on the same server and I need to know how to set it up on linux (it is already shared on the server)

And is it possible to map network drives on linux like in windows?

Try using Firefox for web access, if its as slow as Knoq then it's possible a bigger problem than a misconfigured Konq. It sounds more like a badly configured card, but check with firefox first.

firefox is really fast, ive been using it for the last 3 days and have had no problems
