Question is that normal ?


am using Fedora Core FC3
2.6 CPU
1GB Ram
intel 845

when i log in my box as root and then switch to normal user then switch as root again it's taking alot of time ... is that normal ?

I don't think it is normal. Depends what do you mean as log on as root, switch to normal user and switch back. Doing it on console should be instantaneous. Doing it in a terminal window should be fast as well. I don't recommend to log in graphical session as root.

You may run 'top' and look what is going on when you switch the user.

How are you switching users? Are you switching in X as it is probably reloading everything once again for each user or using su... etc?
