Is fbcondecor still maintained anywhere?

Years ago, almost a decade maybe. I remember a guy from gentoo project (i believe his name was spock) had kernel patches to allow customization of the framebuffer, so that during boot or when dropping to a console, you could pad the text, and apply a fancy background image.

Can't seem to find any patches relating to fbcondecor since at latest 2014. Is there anything maintained or forked from that project which is compatible with recent kernels?

Knoppix still counts threads with tux images as init starts. Maybe fbcondecor is how that happens, or splash.

Well, the latest files on SourceForge are from 2011. But fbsplash is still provided by AUR.

The package name may differ between distributions though. E.g. SliTaz provides it as splashutils.
