Question ipchains and kde starting

I am running Redhat Advanced Server and for some reason when I clamp down on the settings in ipchains I cannot log into KDE. When I start KDE it just hangs on "initializing peripherals." Any ideas as to a particular port that I need to make available. Or a rule that I need to add to my ipchains configuration? Thanks in advance.

Check your /var/log/XFree.*log (bump up xinit's loglevel) and /var/log/messages, and add a "catchall" logging rule to the end of your DENY chains. Restart what's necessary and start looking for errors.

Moved to /General as I think this is a KDE thingie.
