how do i install a program i downloaded from the internet? thanks for all your help. I am running ubuntu the program I am trying to install is limewire or frostwire, they are both p2p programs,
if there is a p2p with in ubuntu please let me know which one it is and where do I find Wine?

To elaborate on the previous post. This is a public forum and the purpose is to educate all members. Private answers are discouraged.
It is also not recommended to post your email address in threads.
It would help to know what program you are trying to install. Have you verified it is not in the repositories? Most are source code and need to be compiled. The downloaded file is a compressed archive that needs to be uncompressed. Once uncompressed there should be several files/directories and hopefully a README file that includes some form of instructions.
Windows programs do not natively run in linux and require something called wine. Not all programs run under wine.
