How to reset monitor settings to default autodetected settings in openSUSE?

Hi,
I tried to change the resolution on my monitor and my settings are hosed now. I cannot do anything graphical because the font is so small the text is almost nonexistant. Is there someway from the command line or boot prompt that I can reset my monitor settings to what they were when I installed?
I'm running openSUSE 11.0. In Fedora I believe I could run "/usr/sbin/firstboot --reconfig". Is there an equivalent?

Is it the resolution settings that are bad, or just the size of the fonts? You can run sax from the console as well. Also look in /etc/X11/ for backup xorg.conf files.

I'm not certain, but if you used sax to create the changes, I think the previous settings were backed up to "xorg.conf.saxsave".

The backup's not going to do me any good because I tried to make changes unsuccessfully more than once. I really need a way to get back to the default. "sax2 -r" from the command line looks hopeful, but I get the message "access to your display is denied" even as root.
