fsck delay reported bootup time?

When a Red Hat Linux server crashes (RH 6.x, ext2 FS) and has to go through a disk check with auto fsck, does the reboot time reported by uptime and times logged in /var/log/messages get delayed until the fsck check completes, or is the uptime reported from the time the fsck starts? Just trying to understand reported times in logs and in uptime for a remotely managed server.

Thanks.

AFAIK the uptime is measured from when the kernel starts handling timer interruprs, which is very early in the boot (way before the fsck).

BTW RH 6.x is really old -- you really ought to consider upgrading if you're running a production server on it.

Thanks for the reply. If anyone believes this to be different, please post.

Per RH 6.x, with custom built kernels and upgraded software, it's probably as safe if not safer than the latest RH OS's.
