Angry font problem in man pages

I have just installed MDK on a dell INSPIRON 8k
every work, just a stupid problem make me upset! :-(

I have a problem with fonts in man pages, it seems it is not possible to display the " - "

If I type man cat I get the following :
CAT(1) User Commands CAT(1)

NAME
cat - concatenate files and print on the standard output

SYNOPSIS
cat [OPTION] [FILE]...

DESCRIPTION
Concatenate FILE(s), or standard input, to standard output.

?A, ??show-all
equivalent to -vET

?b, ??number-nonblank
number nonblank output lines

?e equivalent to ?vE

?E, ??show-ends
display $ at end of each line

?n, ??number
number all output lines

Any help

Diego

IT's probably some env variables that set your encoding etc. Try
env LC_ALL=en_US man <whatever>

If this gets things displayed correctly, you can put an alias. Put the following line at the beginning of the file .bashrc in your home directory:
alias man='env LC_ALL=en_US man'

you'll be able to just type
man cat
to get things displayed correctly.
