Hi


I have a linux box Red hat 8.0 installed
The Hardware configuratuion is fine with Pentum111 and 256 MB RAM

Now I am using my machine and the same time i give access to others user to access my machine through VNCserver
They access it by VNCveiwer and also through telnet

They specially use it for Database accessing(Postgresql)

So when others user uses my machine and he tries to insert bulk data into the database
automatically I cannot use my session it is get slow and not able to even move my mouse

So can anyone tell me how to fine tune the performance of my machine

i.e. I should to restrict the other user sharing the system resourses.It should be evenly distributed that is the other user should be restricted from using more resourses
so i should also be able to work in my machine smoothly while other user using my machines

My point is the other user should using the system resourses evenly I do not bother about the time ,Let it take more time
but I should also be able to access my machine smoothly when other user inserts data and others from remotely

So how to share the resoures and allocate quota
