Finally ditching Windows once and for all

Hi guys,

I just wanted to get some feed back from other people who have taken the plunge and decided to completely scrap windows and use Linux as their main OS.

Today was the final straw, I have been using linux for the last couple of months but I still have a windows install which is using up the main part of my hard disk. This afternoon I thought I'd boot windows up for a change to watch a dvd and I opened up a web page to download something first of all and unknowingly a popup message appears asking (I know I should have read it but I did it as a reflex) Yes to proceed. Two minutes later after my computer had almost crashed I look at my task manager and here I have all this new and just installed WONDERFUL spy fucking ware installed. I was googling and I had opened up a few sites at the time so I am not 100% sure which site it was otherwise I would have complained to them.

Well after trying to get rid of all this new unwelcomed software for about an hour I thought I had gotten rid of it completely. I had even ran Ad-Aware a few times just to make sure. OK so back to playing my DVD. To my delight now Windows Media player will no longer play anything and it will spit out error message upon error message (I guess that spy ware did a little more than just spy)

So that was the final straw, I am burning all the things I might need to DVD and I am switching to a completely LINUX bases system from today onwards. I dont ever want to have to remove spyware , run anti virus software or do all those wonderful tasks you constantly have to do to maintain windows.

Has anyone else out there had the same feeling?

Congradulations! You're computing experience from this day forward only gets better!
I would love to run only Linux, but I have 3 windows apps that won't run well under wine that I need (win32 apps):
-> Slideshow Movie Maker
-> GUI for DVD Author
see www.videohelp.com/tools for those. I know there is Q DVD Author for linux but I really like GUI for DVD Author alot. Slideshow movie maker is a great app for taking jpgs and making avis with all sorts of effects, including transitions, ken burns, ect ect. And its freeware

Also I haven't found a way to capture from my Dazzle Digital Video Creator 150 in linux yet. I tried installing the DVXCEL.exe utility in linux but it wouldn't install. These are my only 3 reasons to not switch to a completely *NIX based system!
