FC6: CPU gets maxed when computer not in use

Hello,

I'm just wondering if anyone know anything about why my cpu gets maxed out when the computer is idle. I've been running some processes, and I notice if I leave the computer alone for 10 minutes or so, these processes slow down significanlty...once I do something like move the mouse around everything goes back to normal. Even if I have nothing running at all, I can hear the CPU fan running high (as my laptop does when the CPU is at or near 100%).

I'm running FC6, x86_64 on an AMD Turion 64 laptop. I'm using the KDE desktop environment, and all screensaver stuff is disabled (I had thought maybe it was something loding in the background).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Open a terminal window and run "top". Then wait for the CPU to go up and look which processes use the CPU.

Let's hope it doesn't show "top" ...

Got it - it was the beagle daemon. I never use that thing anyway, so I killed it.
