fc3: up2date fails

Hello?

I'm using Fedora Core 3's up2date and
ran into the following error:

... unresolvable chain of dependencies libwpd-1.so.7

So, I tried yum install libwpd-1.so.7 based on my
previous experience with a similar issue from another
distro in a console window.

But this failed to work either.

What should I do now?

Thanks.

Did you install something from a non-fedora repository?

If yes, then you need to add the repository to /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources so that it can be used by up2date.

Also, add the repo to either the /etc/yum.repos.d group or to /etc/yum.conf and use yum to do updates instead.

yum update libwpd*
yum update

Hi WhatsHisName,

Thanks for your feedback.

I've never used non-fc repositories in my up2date.

Also, I've never changed the yum.conf file but I just
uncommented for the base ... line to see what it does
in the yum update process in the console window.

This didn't make any difference.

In the yum.conf file I only have two lines: one for the
base line I just mentioned and the other is just the
other mirror list.

So, what am I doing not right, here?

Anybody?

You're not doing anything wrong. I just ran into the same problem with FC3.

The dependency is tied to the FC3 updates, so it's probably just an oversight related to the update rpms. There's already a bugzilla report on it ( https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla....cgi?id=170117 ), so it will probably be resolved in the near future.

Forgot to point out that you can exclude the “offending” rpm(s) by running yum like this:

yum --exclude=libwpd* update

Hi WhatsHisName,

I just performed the up2date update about
a week later since I had the issue last time,
and the update went smoothly.

I didn't have to do any of the console executions

Thanks.
