Error while opening link in pdf file using google-chrome

I initially had firefox as a default browser for opening html links inside a pdf file. However, when I changed the opening browser into google-chrome, it comes with an error message:

Unable to determine IP address from host name openurl%28http

and if I click on a link, say, http://abc.com

chrome reads it as openurl%28http://abc.com in the address bar.

However, this sort of problem does not happen using firefox.

Any remedy? Thanks.

Btw I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 distro.
