Question Error: "pppd daemon died unexpectedly"

I've been using console and KDE to dial up and no problems there. Recently decided to use Gnome for a while....Oh happy Gnome, it doesn't want me surfin'. Instantly get "pppd daemon died unexpectedly" error after trying to dial. Haven't had this happen in any other environment. Anybody have this happen and a reason? Thanks...

this usually happens when there is a problem in the pap-secrets file.

You need to check the pppd logs to see what it says.

By default they go to /var/log/messages

try cat /var/log/messages | grep ppp | more

are you using rp3?

try rp3-config and use the debug button

while running tail -f /var/log/messages | grep ppp
