Eqivalent to Winows Task Manager but for Linux Red Hat

Hello,

When I type " ps " into the Terminal's command line I get this message:

PID TTY TIME CMD
23779 pts/1 00:00:00 bash
23816 pts/1 00:00:00 ps

While I typed this in I had my " Mozilla " browser running. So my question is why does that not show up in the output from the " ps " command ? Also what command do I use to see programs such as " Mozilla " or any other non-shell program? I am looking for what would be equivalent to your " Task Manager " on a Windows system, or " Force Quit Applications " on Mac OS X. I am wanting to know this to kill run-away programs more or less.

Thanks in advance for the help,

Aaron Dennis

I forgot to mention the gui tool to show active proccesses. It is quickly accessed by pressing the Ctrl and Esc keys.
