ok, i'm very new to linux and am wondering how i would go about installing mandrake 8.0 on a separate drive from windoze and getting it to boot to the linux drive.
Yes, you can do it. Just make the drive you install linux as the primary and start the install. The GRUB boot loader if Linux will by default recognise windoze and provide an option to boot into it. If you have any doubts, go to www.mandrake.com and check it out.
cool, thanks. i've been doing it bass-ackwards the whole time...ultra- ...never used linux before. is the bootloader included with mandrake or do i have to download?
well, now it looks like i have to replace the second HD (lightning hit my house last week). when i go to install i get halfway through the process and my mouse stops working but i can continue with the keyboard until that locks as well. no problems with the other drive tho...good thing i was smart enough to get a 4 year warranty on the drive.
