DRM Errors


When i installed intel i830 graphics driver on RH linux8.0,i got some drm error.
Actually i changed display from Xwindows to Character mode.I got the following error.
"(drm:i830_wait_ring) *error* space:131048 wanted 131064 "(drm:i830_wait_ring) *error* lockup

How can i solve this problem,help me

Hi
I'm a total Linux newbie

I have a similar error - When I installed Redhat 9 all was fine
and then this morning when I went turned on laptop - I get the
following error & I can't even login - this has happened before - and last time I gave up and reinstalled Redhat 9 ...... but there
has to be a better solution ??

If you get this drm error.... Just use windows. Nobody at DRI, XFree86, and xorg seem too interested in fixing the bugs related to this chipset. Linux isn't capable of running with 845G chipsets yet. (as of kernel 2.6.8)

A fix exists

Apparently (found by this guy Running Linux on my Dell Dimension 3000 ) Xorg has the answer. If like me the easy way to install it on debian is covered in a nice guide by Debian-administration.org happy Xing
