I there good people, i've just installed openSuSE 10.2 on an IBM ThinkPad R51. Its cool i have to confess. I used Linux before at college but the current experience in is just terrific.
I'm looking for an application that can use my desktop as a console. If i press a given key combination, the wallpaper on the desktop is split into half and i can use the console on the upper half and the rest of the wallpaper below, without having to launch kconsole. It means that i don't have to open a lot of kconsole windows. as i'm currently doing. I know i can use tabs for kconsole, i find the desktop console cool
I have seen it before on a presentation, i unfortunately have forgotten the name of the software.
Is there is anyone who knows it, please point me to it
Thanks in advance.

No problem, one more thing though, because it can be annoying switching tabs all the time, you might want to try out splitvt, it does what it says on the tin. Splits your terminal into two terminal seperated by a line, you use CTRL+W to switch between the two (just make sure the terminal has focus when pressing that, I have accidentally closed programs a few times).
Huuuum, i have checked the application, but there seem to be little, if any documentation or a couple of screenshots available. I like throughly understanding what the application will be doing and what it will be like before installing it on my machine, its a MVP (Most Valuable Player).
Are you talking about splitvt? I never had to install it it already came with my distro. All you do is type "splitvt" without quotes, and your terminal splits into two terminals, one on top, and one underneath. CTRL+W switches between the two.
I don't think it could do any harm to your PC, I have been using it for quite some time, and haven't had any problems.
Here is a screenshot, the white bar you see is where the terminal is split, everything underneath that is another terminal.
