OK, the Webcentral hosting answered me sayg : Please send us the certificate and we will set it up.
But how do I get a certificate? The URL is : http://our-family.au

Thank you

One way would be to use the manual mode via either the HTTP or the DNS option, with the link from post #9 above:

https://eff-certbot.readthedocs.io/e...ng.html#manual

That can be done via your GNU/Linux system.

Let's Encrypt certificates are deliberately short-lived to encourage automation.

This means - if you go down the manual route - you'll be repeating the process every sixty days.

Doing it as a temporary workaround is fine, but it is not a sensible long-term solution - especially when automatic SSL functionality is built-in to the hosting software you are using.

Seriously, if WebCentral are trying to get you to pay AU$200 for a basic automated DV certificate, first ask them what year they think it is, then ask them to explain the part of their website claiming:

An SSL certificate is a digital certificate that authenticates a website’s identity and enables an encrypted connection. Ultimately, it provides a secure environment for both visitors and site owners. AutoSSL is a part of cPanel and solves the tedious issue of manual SSL installation and renewal. And you can rest assured that your coverage will never lapse, because at expiration time a new, free SSL is requested and automatically installed. AutoSSL provides a DV Sectigo certificate created and managed within the cPanel account.
Or maybe "free" means something different in Australian English...? :/

I will not engage into something that needs to be repeated...
Thanks, good to know

Any source of ssl certification will require repeating. If you buy a cert from someone, they will want you to renew it, typically annually. I tend to mange my certificate renewals at the same time I renew the domains.

Having a cert included in the hosting package is ideal.

Makes sense, and looks like yearly certs are as low as US$5 these days.

Personally I've no issues with LetsEncrypt and have a very robust automated process for a bunch of domains, I also have paid for external monitoring that includes certificate checking, so I get notification if there's 14 days left on a LetsEncrypt cert that would indicate the automagic renewal failed.
