It would be a good idea for you to start your own thread as the problem you are facing is unrelated to the orignal problem posted. Also, given that this is a Linux forum and your question seems to be entirely about a windows problem, going to a windows forum would likely get you better results.
Boot from any live Linux media, get the script from https://github.com/arvidjaar/bootinfoscript and provide a link to its output on pastebin.com. Then someone here can probably figure out what you have done and what you need to do.
I read somewhere else, that XP would need to be reinstalled first, and then I could install linux lite 3.4 on this old system to run both systems on the drive.

Linux wouldn't need to be reinstalled, only its boot system repaired (reinstall Grub) via a rescue boot. Windows always replaces Grub when Grub is installed to MBR (which usually is not necessary).
Not much point in continuing this until you post more detailed information such as is provided with the bootinfoscript suggested above. If you are able to boot XP but not your Linux system then the Grub bootloader obviously hasn't been installed properly. Not sure what your intentions are but it is possible though not easy, to boot Linux from XP. Post more details if you actually want a solution.
