Backup to network storage

Hello all

I was just wondering how one would go about backing up data from the ubuntu server to an external storage device (linkstation) already attached to the network and backing up data from the windows server.

If there are any tips on how to do this via webmin this would be great!

I am completely new to all this - so sorry if the question is a bit "!£%"$%...not too sure if i have got the correct forum either!

Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm not familiar with webmin, but since the windows server is able to connect to your 'linkstation', I would bet you can use samba to mount the linkstation drive and transfer files that way. If webmin already has a 'backup' functionality built into it, then if you mount the linkstation drive in the filesystem through samba, everything should just work .

Hey thanks CRC123 and jkzfixme for your help.

I took your advice CRC123 in the end - and mounted the linkstation drive. I then wrote a backup script and created a cron job to execute this script on a daily basis! All working

Thanks CRC123 for that
